Prop Guard

Pictured is one of the YV RIBs that has been fitted with an appropriate propeller guard to reduce the risk of propeller strikes with personnel.

All boats in the YV fleet are now fitted with such guards and Yachting Victoria's Risk Management and Safety Committee chair, Rohan Brownlee, recommends and urges all clubs to follow YV's lead in this relatively low cost area.  Propeller guards improve the safety of operating your powered rescue/patrol vessels by keeping everyone safe from propeller related injuries.  Standard size propeller guards are readily available on the market and simple to fit.
